Faulted Prospect Volumetrics

Faulted Prospect Volumetrics http://www.ga.gov.au/ausgeonews/ausgeonews200603/bremer.jsp

FaultRisk generates Allan Maps, calculates Leak Points and integrates this key information with depth area plots to produce distributions of trapped hydrocarbons.

As the oil industry moves into regions that are harder to explore prospects that rely on faults are becoming the norm rather than the exception.

As can be seen from this Woodside presentation, many of the leads in this map are fault dependant. The missing link in any prospect evaluation is the integration of fault seal analysis with Resource estimate volumetric calculations.

FaultRisk Monte Carlo Simulation Engine models

  • Each bounding fault
  • Key Spill Points

For each realization the controlling leak point is defined and used to calculate a trapped volume using a depth area plots for the structure.

Bulk Rock Volumes are used to estimate volumes of oil in place using distributions of:

  • Nett to Gross
  • Porosity
  • Hydrocarbon Saturation

Recoverable volumes can be models using distributions of:

  • Recovery Factor
  • Expansion Factor
